Melissa and Ryan were eager to have me for their wedding at Diamond Alumni Centre at Simon Fraser University. I was so excited to go back to my university, where I finished my degree to shoot a wedding even though it is still one year away.
I am often asked by couples where I will recommend for an engagement session. The first option that occurs to me is always Steveston Village. Whether couples are just visiting Vancouver or they were born and raised locally, Steveston Village is a piece of hidden gem in Great Vancouver.
Samantha and Nathan took my advice and chose this location for their engagement photos without any hesitation
I was so flattered when Michelle and Rhys trusted me for their engagement session in this misaerable weather.
After a coffee talk and scouting the venue together with this couple, Lana & Chris, they trusted me on the photography of their engagement session and wedding. We met at Kitsilano Beach, a place where we can enjoy the sunset while taking the pictures. That day was a little bit cloudy, however, it did not block the sun. Instead, the sky has become more dramatic.
I chose a zoom lens for this day, which allowed me to keep a distance from the couple while they could have fun and enjoy the moment without me interrupting.
The difficulty of having a sunset engagement session is that I have to make sure to retain the detail of the background like sky and sea, and to properly exposure of the face. No one wants to see a blank white background or dark faces in the images. I had to post-process the photos so that the images could have a closer look to what we saw in our human eyes.
This was a fun engagement with Lana and Chris. I was glad that they took my advice to make this happen before sunset :)
